Well its 2009 and what the new year will bring I not know. I have been keeping busy working hard training and getting ready for hopefully a successful season. Last year was an unbelieveable year but lacked one good preformance at the Olympic games which really hurt me. But winning the Olympic trials was sureal and I now feel like there a lot left in my tank. Turning 25 in late December I am physically going to be ready to jump really high bars consistently. I have been training 6 days a week now for quite sometime and am currently in The Netherland getting ready for my first meet next week in Malmo, Sweden. I have been lifting 4 days a week and lifting heavy trying to get that strong base for the long season (Feb-Sep). Squats, cleans, bench and snatch pulls being the main lifts in my current cycle. I love these lifts! Especially cleans. There is nothing like going to a weight room turning up the volume with some fine music and cranking out some good lifting. I love this part of the season. I am getting really excited about competing next weekm. I have only had three jumping sessions this year and dont know what to expect in my first meet. Its always a bit nerve racking wondering if all the work that I have put into training will convert into good jumping. All the jumping practices I have taken around 15 jumps mostly short approach....5 steps. The highest I have cleared is 2.10 (6-10.75) and had some easy clearances along with many missed jumps at this height. I have not taken any jumps at any higher bars. Its weird to think that in meets last year I never once attemped a bar lower than 7 feet and now I am struggling to jump bars not even at that 7 foot barrier. Its alright I keep on saying to myself because I know that I am strong and in good shape. I feel like I could say so much in this blog but I will end it here and will write again soon.....maybe tomorrow if I am up for it.
Signing off
